Weingarten is CEO of Stanson Health, a Premier Inc. company; serves as the executive leader of the Premier Academic Innovators Collaborative; and is a consultant to the president at Cedars-Sinai Health System. He also is a professor of medicine at Cedars-Sinai Health System and a clinical professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Board-certified in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians, Weingarten has published 100 articles and editorials on health care quality improvement, clinical decision support, and similar topics and has authored numerous textbook chapters on improving the quality of patient care. He has given more than 300 presentations on clinical decision support and related topics. He is a New England Journal of Medicine Catalyst “Thought Leader.”
Weingarten has held positions on myriad national committees dedicated to improving patient outcomes and currently serves on the board of directors for the Scottsdale Institute. At Cedars-Sinai, he has received both the President’s Award and the Golden Apple Teaching Award.
Weingarten was the cofounder, president, and CEO of Zynx Health, which is the leader for order sets and care plans for electronic health records. He also helped to invent three software patents.
After graduating from UCLA medical school, Weingarten completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai. He later participated in a National Center for Health Services Research Fellowship at the RAND/UCLA Center for Health Policy Study. During the fellowship, he earned a master’s degree in public health at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
